Do you need a visa to Malaysia?

Citizens of certain countries require a visa to enter Malaysia. These include:
Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan

Malaysia offers a convenient eVisa system for short-term tourism and travel, with single-entry or multiple-entry options depending on nationality and eligibility.

Malaysia does not issue special “transit visas on arrival.” However, visa-free transit is allowed in some cases under strict conditions:

Visa-free transit is available only if:

  • You arrive and depart by air only;
  • You have a confirmed air ticket to a third country;
  • Your passport is valid for at least 6 months;
  • You have a visa to the third country (if required);
  • You leave Malaysia within 120 hours (5 days);
  • You have sufficient funds for the stay and a return ticket.

Important: Transit by land or sea (bus, train, cruise) does not qualify for visa-free transit. In such cases, you must apply for a tourist eVisa in advance.

If your entry does not fall under the visa-free or transit exemption, we will assist you in applying for a Malaysia tourist eVisa, which allows stays up to 30 days and is usually valid for 3 months.

The eVisa is issued as a single-entry visa for most nationalities, though multiple-entry visas are available under specific conditions.

To apply for a visa to Malaysia, please prepare the following:

  • A color copy of the main passport page (valid for at least 6 months, with blank pages).
  • A completed visa application form (one per traveler, including children).
  • A color digital photo (white background, JPEG format, taken within the last 3 months).
  • Round-trip flight tickets.
  • Hotel booking for at least 2 nights (can be arranged through us or booked online).
  • Marriage certificate (if spouses have different surnames).

Additional documents for unmarried women (under 50 years old, traveling alone):

  • A letter from their place of work indicating salary.
  • A bank statement with at least USD 1,000.
  • White background only (no shadows or yellow tones)
  • JPEG format, original photo (not a scan)
  • Must show full face and open ears
  • Light makeup only for women
  • Taken within 3 months
  • File name must include full first and last name (e.g. MariaIvanova.jpeg)
  • Poor-quality photos may result in rejection or delays
  • Each photo remains in the immigration system for visual verification on entry
